DINING ROOMS

VIBRANT DINING ROOM, Cohasset, MA

Orange walls with raspberry! This bold dining room is one my favorite rooms of all time. Inspired by Manuel Canovas's fabulous raspberry and orange toile, we painted the walls orange, and then striped the tops of the walls with shiny polyurethane to give them interest.
Azaleas painting by Jack Dickerson.

Scalamandre linen on the Swedish country chair seats.

Simple window valences let the beauty of the fabrics shine.

This amazing toile is from my favorite fabric designer - Manuel Canovas.

Detail of silk cording around the top of the tablecloth

The Anna French silk, which borders the toile, is irridescent - fuchsia and orange - and changes tones as one moves about the room.

Raspberry and grass green accessories bring a neutral room to life.

Zebra patterned Italian ceramicware is a terrific juxtaposition to Jack Dickerson's painting, "Parrot Tulip".

ANTIQUE DINING ROOM at TRANQUILLITY LODGE, Hingham, MA

A mix of antique English and Italian china and silver

The woodwork color was hand mixed to complement the historic hand painted murals in this room.

Because of the low ceiling, minimal silk window treatments were conceived to add a punch of color without overwhelming the room.

At Christmas, I put sugared fruit in this Italian epergne.

"My Angel" painting by Jack Dickerson was a gift to Kate on Valentine's Day. The sideboard is Early American.

A view of the chinoiserie lattice design painted below the chair rail.

Limoges hand painted vegetable plates. Grapevine tablecloth by Pierre Frey.

The centerpiece was done in a Herend tureen, with the cover nestled in as part of the arrangement.

Capiz shell fireplace surround. Large painting by Jack Dickerson. Walls faux painted by Chris Smith. The chairs were upholstered using two silks for the seats and backs, while the reverse side of the back was done in China Seas raspberry leopard print.

A "sea glass" chandelier and sconces remind the owners of the beach, visible from the windows here. Silk shades are silver grey and lined with aqua blue.

Waterford crystal chandelier.

DINING ROOM, Osterville, MA

I painted this vaulted ceiling to resemble a Cape Cod sunrise. Insides of the silk shades were given a gold wash, imparting a gentle glow in the evening.
